Gent-Based Uma Health Secures €750,000 to Expand Menopause Care Platform

Uma Health, a digital health platform based in Ghent, Belgium, has received €750,000 in funding to scale its services and expand access to specialized care for women experiencing menopause. This investment reflects a growing global recognition of the significant health needs surrounding menopause and the impact it has on women’s lives.

The funding round included contributions from a consortium of angel investors, including Bieke Claes, as well as Allusion Ventures, imec.istart, PMV, KBC innovation banking and VLAIO. Uma Health intends to use the capital to further develop its platform, grow internationally, strengthen its team, and launch novel services, according to a company statement.

Since its launch in November 2024, Uma Health has demonstrated strong commercial traction, generating €406,000 in revenue and achieving profitability. The platform currently boasts a monthly revenue exceeding €50,000. As of March 5, 2026, over 1,400 women have been connected with one of the platform’s 10 certified healthcare providers – comprising seven doctors, two menopause counselors, and one orthomolecular therapist.

Uma Health’s services are currently available in five languages: Dutch, French, English, German, and Spanish. This multilingual approach underscores the company’s commitment to reaching a broad audience and addressing a widespread, often underserved, health need.

Globally, more than one billion women are currently in the (peri-)menopause stage of life. Approximately 75% of these women experience mild to severe symptoms, which can significantly impact their quality of life and work performance. Research from Securex and UGent (2024) indicates that 21% of working women in Belgium are in the (peri-)menopause, with 55.3% reporting work-related difficulties.

A report by Sciensano’s Women’s Health Report (2024) highlights that common menopause symptoms like insomnia, mood swings, and exhaustion are frequently undertreated, despite evidence supporting the benefits of targeted treatments, including hormone therapy and symptom management. The investment in Uma Health aims to address this gap in care and improve support for women navigating this life stage.

Looking ahead, Uma Health aims to reach 50,000 paying users and establish a network of 70 healthcare providers by 2028, as reported by Made in Oost-Vlaanderen. This expansion could significantly improve access to menopause care for women across Europe and beyond.
