Meny is advertising a range of new snacks, deli meats, pizzas, and taco products in its stores, and a recent review suggests the claims of exciting new flavors hold up. The question is, do these products deliver on being “exciting” and “simple, flavorful food?”
Leading the pack among the new products is Solo Super Rød, an orange-flavored soda. This new variant actually contains juice from apple and passionfruit, or grapefruit and pineapple, depending on the package size. According to information on Meny’s website, the half-liter bottle contains grapefruit and pineapple, while the can features apple, and passionfruit. However, Ringnes’ website lists orange and red orange as the flavors in the can. Ringnes confirmed to testers that the can contains orange and red orange.
Despite the discrepancy, the new flavor was a clear winner. The test panel unanimously agreed it deserved top marks: “This could become a favorite soda.”

Also receiving a top score among the new products was Smil Chewies, a caramel chocolate. Testers described the product as dangerously good – “you eat one, and then you’ve eaten the whole bag.”
“These are simply dangerously good,” one tester commented.

The only noted drawback was the appearance of the candy.
Is it Fish or Chicken?
Findus, a well-known brand for frozen fish products, has expanded into the breaded chicken market. The results have been mixed.

The product line includes “Chicken Burger,” “Fried Chicken,” “Chicken Nuggets,” and “Crispy Chicken.” The chicken nuggets performed well, although they flaked apart during cooking and while handling. The flavor was good, and they were crispy enough to rival fast-food options. At 220 kroner per kilogram (a 250-gram package costs 54.90 kroner), they are more expensive than options from Grilstad, slow-growing chicken from Ytterøy, or larger packages from Prior at Meny. The taste difference wasn’t significant enough to justify the price, but they are a good buy if on sale.
The “Crispy Chicken,” however, was a miss, tasting remarkably like fish sticks. Priced at 323 kroner per kilogram, it’s significantly more expensive than Findus’ fish sticks (132 kroner per kilogram) or First Price alternatives (36 kroner per kilogram). The product contains 50% chicken, compared to 57% in Prior’s chicken nuggets.

Mills has introduced new options for grilled cheese sandwiches. Toasty Urban Ham is a spreadable filling with ham. It contains 18% ham and 20% cheese, designed to be spread between bread slices before grilling. The testers found it to be a tasty, if not particularly healthy, option.
Ice Cream News

Hennig-Olsen has released several new ice cream flavors. Opinions were divided, but the testers agreed that the lemon-flavored Sofr Shake was “okay,” but that lemon is better suited to sorbet. The new Sizeable Deal with peanut flavor received very positive feedback, especially “for those who like the taste of Reese’s.” The Créme Chocolat Brownie, which was expected to be a winner, ended up being “good, but not a favorite.” the new ice cream launches from Hennig-Olsen were somewhat disappointing, with the peanut-flavored Big Deal standing out as the best option.
