A livestream from the White House’s YouTube channel showed Messi and Inter Miami CEO Jorge Mas flanking Trump as they entered the East Room, where the Inter Miami squad stood on a podium.
Trump addressed the team and the public, speaking extensively about Messi, Inter Miami, and the sport of soccer.
This marks Messi’s first visit to the White House. He was previously honored with an invitation from President Joe Biden last year, but was unable to attend.
Messi joins a select group of soccer stars to be invited to the White House, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s visit in November.
