Mojang Studios has officially announced the development of Minecraft Dungeons II, a sequel to the popular 2020 dungeon-crawler. The game is slated for release this fall across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and a recent Nintendo Switch 2 console.
The announcement, made during Minecraft Live on March 20, 2026, signals Mojang’s ambition to expand upon the success of the original Minecraft Dungeons, which has reached over 25 million players. The original title offered a unique, action-RPG twist within the established Minecraft universe, and the sequel aims to build on that foundation with a broader world and more extensive content.
“A hero’s work is never done!” reads an official description on the game’s Steam page. “Disorder is brewing, and the world stands before a threat unlike any other. A new danger is growing in power, ready to descend upon the land and unleash mayhem.”
Minecraft Dungeons II will immerse players in a new action RPG adventure, featuring high-stakes encounters, challenging gameplay, and previously unseen locations as they work to save a world in crisis. The game is now available for wishlisting on Steam.
The original Minecraft Dungeons launched in May 2020 for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, eventually receiving crossplay support and multiple expansion packs before development concluded in 2023. The success of the first game demonstrates the growing appetite for action RPGs within the broader gaming community.
