Iran has vowed to avenge the “blood of its martyrs,” according to a statement made Thursday by Mojtaba Khamenei, in his first public address since becoming the country’s supreme leader. The new leader also warned that the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil transit route, will remain closed and attacks against American bases in the region will continue.
