The Nintendo Switch 2 is gaining traction as a platform for both fresh releases and ports, and fans of dark fantasy adventures will soon have another title to explore. MoonHood’s critically acclaimed adventure, The Midnight Walk, is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo’s hybrid successor on March 26.
The announcement, made during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, highlights the growing library of titles available on the new console. The Midnight Walk distinguishes itself with its stunning stop-motion animation, a visually striking aesthetic achieved by sculpting everything in clay and then 3D scanning it into the game.
Players take on the role of “The Burnt One” and journey alongside Potboy, a lantern creature, navigating a world filled with both wonder and peril. Gameplay centers around outsmarting monsters and utilizing Potboy’s flame to distract enemies. The narrative unfolds through five tales of fire and darkness, introducing players to a cast of unusual characters. This painstaking process results in a visually striking and layered fantasy world, offering a truly artistic and immersive experience.
The Midnight Walk has already received industry recognition, winning awards at The Game Awards and Steam Awards in 2025, as well as accolades from BAFTA and DICE. The game supports TV mode, tabletop mode, and handheld mode, offering flexibility for how players choose to experience the adventure. The game file size is estimated at 14.6 GB, according to Nintendo’s official store listing.
The title will be available on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 USD. You can view the reveal trailer here and read a review of the game. The arrival of The Midnight Walk on the Switch 2 underscores the platform’s potential to deliver unique and visually compelling gaming experiences.
