Munich’s public transportation system is operating on a limited schedule Wednesday, March 19, and Thursday, March 20, due to a strike by the Verdi labor union. The perform stoppage began Wednesday morning and is impacting buses, trams, and subway lines throughout the city.

To avoid disruptions as the strike began, vehicles were gradually returned to their depots starting at 9 a.m. Local time. By 11 a.m., service was switched to an emergency schedule, similar to previous strike actions.
Buses are maintaining basic service on all routes, though with reduced frequency. Officials reported that approximately two-thirds of the bus fleet was in operation as of midday Wednesday, with most night lines also running.
Tram service is limited to Line 20, which is running every ten minutes and is scheduled to continue until 10:30 p.m. After that, service will be reduced to every 20 minutes.
Subway service has been expanded on certain sections.
