Murena Volla Tablet Now Available in US and Canada with De-Googled OS
A new Android tablet option prioritizing user privacy has arrived in North America. The Murena Volla Tablet, featuring the /e/OS operating system, is now available for purchase in both the United States and Canada, according to recent announcements. This launch provides consumers with a readily available, de-Googled alternative to mainstream Android tablets.
The Volla Tablet was initially introduced on Kickstarter in early 2024 and began shipping to backers in early 2025. It boasts a 12.6-inch 2650×1600 screen, a MediaTek Gaming G99 chipset, 12 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. The tablet also supports cellular network connectivity, as well as pen and keyboard accessories. The availability of de-Googled tablets like this signals a growing consumer demand for privacy-focused technology.
This particular version of the Volla Tablet runs /e/OS, a modified version of Android that removes Google apps and services. It includes built-in replacements for Google’s applications, and utilizes the App Lounge as an installer for apps from F-Droid and the Google Play Store. Murena already offers the Fairphone 6 with /e/OS pre-installed in the US.
Murena describes itself as the only provider of a complete ecosystem of privacy-friendly smartphones and cloud solutions. The company aims to end indiscriminate data collection by Big Tech, allowing users to break free from digital surveillance without needing extensive security knowledge. Murena Workspace provides a private email, agenda, calendar, and secure online drive, powered by renewable energy and hosted in Europe.
The Volla Tablet is also compatible with Ubuntu Touch as an alternative operating system. ZDNET recently tested a de-Googled version of the Pixel Tablet reworked by Murena, noting the benefits of a bloatware-free experience. How-To Geek reports that the Volla Tablet offers a compelling option for those seeking an Android experience without Google’s tracking.
Murena’s commitment to privacy extends beyond its hardware, with the company emphasizing that no one, not even themselves, can access user data. Every Murena Workspace account includes 1 GB of free storage, with options to upgrade to paid plans for increased capacity.
