Bergamo, Italy – Jamal Musiala is back in the spotlight for Bayern Munich, and he made an immediate impact on the pitch. The German midfielder scored six goals in Bayern’s 6-2 victory over Atalanta in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie on March 10, 2026.

Musiala’s return to action comes after a lengthy recovery from a serious leg and ankle injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain at the FIFA Club World Cup in July. Despite the injury, Bayern included the 22-year-old in their Champions League squad, signaling their confidence in his eventual return. He had been aiming to return to competitive play before the end of 2025, and this appearance marks a significant step forward in his rehabilitation.

The reigning Bundesliga champions kicked off their Champions League campaign with a dominant performance against Atalanta. Bayern’s squad also featured new signings Tom Bischof, Luis Díaz, Nicolas Jackson, and Jonathan Tah, alongside established stars like Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich, and captain Manuel Neuer. The team will continue their Champions League journey with upcoming matches against Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Club Brugge, Arsenal, Sporting Lisbon, PSV Eindhoven, Union Saint-Gilloise, and Pafos.

Musiala, widely regarded as one of the world’s top attacking midfielders, has 46 goals in 146 appearances for Bayern Munich as of March 6, 2026. He also has 8 goals in 40 appearances for the German national team.
