Egyptian actress Nada Bassiouni has sparked debate after voicing her disapproval of a promotional poster for her upcoming Ramadan 2026 drama, “Al-Dahaya” (The Victims).
Social media users have been sharing posters for the series, which features Bassiouni alongside co-stars Randa Al-Bahairi and Wafa Salem.
Bassiouni expressed her dissatisfaction with her poster, which depicts her lying in bed, seemingly to represent the death of her character. She wrote on her account, “Of course, I’m working on the series ‘Al-Dahaya,’ produced by Mr. Bilal Sabri, who is like a brother to me, but I completely object to the idea of the poster. Why should I observe myself like this? He didn’t even ask my opinion, and I was actually upset by the image… it’s very disturbing.”
Responses from the public have been varied, with one commenter stating, “On the contrary, this poster is very international,” while another wrote, “The poster really grabs the viewer’s attention, like a horror movie poster.” A third user noted, “Some producers do this as a way to introduce people to the cast or create suspense.”
“Al-Dahaya” also stars Salah Abdullah, Mirna Walid, and Aida Riad. The series is written and directed by Hatem Salah El-Din. The use of dramatic imagery in promotional materials is a common tactic in the competitive Ramadan television season, as networks vie for viewership during the holy month.
