NASA has released striking images of an X-class solar flare – the most intense category – that erupted from the sun on November 30th.

NASA recently shared breathtaking images of a powerful X-class solar flare that occurred on November 30th. This event represents the highest intensity level in the solar flare classification system.

The flare was captured by the agency’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, which continuously monitors the sun.

Solar flares are intense bursts of energy that originate from the sun. According to NASA, “they are the most powerful explosions in the solar system and the largest can have the energy equivalent to billions of hydrogen bombs.”

These flares can have effects on Earth, including disruptions to radio communications, power grids, and navigation signals, as well as posing risks to spacecraft and astronauts.

Specifically, this flare was classified as X1.9 (with X28 being the most powerful recorded in 2003), but due to the region from which it originated, it did not cause major disruptions on Earth.

According to the latest updates from the NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center, it is expected to cause a moderate G2 geomagnetic storm (where G5 is the most powerful) that could last until December 5th.
