The Mercedes S-Klasse maintains a unique position in the automotive market, often considered the ultimate executive vehicle. Simultaneously, it serves as a showcase for the luxury and advanced technology Mercedes-Benz has to offer.

Now, a substantial upgrade to the flagship model has been unveiled. According to Mercedes-Benz, more than half of the vehicle is new.

Despite not being electric, Mercedes-Benz is continuing to import the S-Klasse to Norway. However, potential buyers should be aware of the price tag: starting at 2,226,900 kroner for the D 450 d 4matic version (where ‘D’ denotes diesel).

The top-of-the-line S 580 4Matic L will cost a minimum of 2,782,900 kroner.

Illuminated Star

“In 2024, we are celebrating 140 years of Mercedes-Benz – with innovation, quality and groundbreaking technology. No car embodies this legacy more proudly than the S-Class. The new generation combines tradition with ambitious innovations and once again demonstrates that Mercedes-Benz sets the standard,” says Thorbjørn Myrhaug, director of Mercedes-Benz Norway. This emphasis on heritage and innovation underscores the brand’s commitment to maintaining its leadership position in the luxury automotive segment.

A standout feature is the enlarged front grille, now 20 percent larger than before, and available with integrated lighting. For the first time, the iconic standing star on the hood can also be equipped with its own illumination.

The rear light signature has also been updated, featuring three chrome-framed stars in each taillight.

400 Interior Colors

Inside, the S-Klasse has been elevated to a new level. The instrument panel, door panels, and center console have been redesigned to create a more cohesive impression, where wide, horizontal surfaces and three-dimensional light graphics create a harmonious and exclusive atmosphere. The centerpiece is the new MBUX Superscreen, which combines a 14.4-inch central display and a 12.3-inch passenger screen on one glass surface.

With more than 150 exterior colors, over 400 interior colors, and extensive personalization options, customers have the opportunity to create an S-Klasse tailored to the finest detail. From exclusive paint shades to handcrafted material choices, personalization is taken to a new level.

Heated Seatbelts

The fourth generation of the MBUX infotainment system gives the S-Klasse a system that can speak, understand, and respond like a human conversational partner.

The passenger screen experience is enhanced with Dual Light Control, which hides content from the driver when necessary, while MBUX Zero Layer provides a cleaner and more intuitive interface experience.

For the first time, heated seatbelts are also introduced. This increases comfort, but also has a safety aspect, as Mercedes-Benz believes drivers and passengers are likely to remove thick jackets before fastening their seatbelts.

Rear-Wheel Steering

The S-Klasse comes with a new generation of powertrains including V8 and inline-six engines, improved diesel options, and plug-in hybrids with around 62 miles of electric range.

Standard rear-wheel steering of 4.5 degrees, with the option of up to 10 degrees, reduces the turning radius by nearly two meters and provides agility in city traffic, while increasing stability at high speeds.

Standard and Long Version

For those who live a little more dangerously, Mercedes-Benz also offers the S 680 GUARD 4MATIC with VR10-certified protection level – the highest level in a series-produced civilian vehicle. The model combines the highest level of armor with full S-Class comfort and personal customization options, and is developed for authorities, organizations and international missions with special security needs.

The new S-Klasse is available in both standard and long versions, and can be ordered with three different powertrains: 450 d (diesel), 580 e (gasoline hybrid) and 580 (gasoline) – all with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The first cars are expected to be delivered before the summer.
