Renault has officially launched the new Duster in India, offering a refreshed design and a hybrid powertrain option, but foregoing the all-wheel drive system available in global models. The subcompact SUV is priced between $11,400 and $19,800, reflecting a competitive positioning within the Indian market.
Indian consumers can choose from six trim levels: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, Techno+, Iconic, and the Iconic Launch Edition.

Details on the New Renault Duster for India
“Visually, the Duster destined for the Indian market differentiates itself from its global siblings through a handful of distinct exterior tweaks. The headlamp units retain the familiar casing, but the lighting signature drops the global Y-shaped motif for a simpler LED arrangement,” Carscoops reported.
The front grille now prominently displays the ‘Duster’ name, and the front bumper features a more aggressive seem with an oversized, aluminum-effect skid plate and enlarged side inlets. Along the sides, Renault-branded gills replace the plastic trim on the front doors, and a vertical slit has appeared on the D-pillars.
At the rear, the taillights maintain their triangular shape but are now tinted and feature updated internal graphics. A new LED light bar spans the width of the tailgate, and the number plate housing has been redesigned alongside a reshaped bumper.”
While the exterior design appears to be a mid-cycle refresh, the interior has undergone a more substantial overhaul. Renault has completely reworked the cabin design, adding more features and updating key touchpoints for a more refined experience. This represents enhanced by the modern digital cockpit, ambient lighting, and leatherette upholstery available on higher trims.
In India, the Duster will compete directly with successful models in the segment, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, MG Astor, and the upcoming Nissan Tekton.
Unlike versions manufactured in Romania and Turkey, the Duster for the Indian market will be produced locally at Renault’s Chennai plant. The company states it has achieved a 90% localization rate, meaning nearly all components are sourced from India rather than imported as CKD kits.
The base Authentic trim does not include an infotainment screen, but the Evolution trim receives a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a six-speaker Arkamys audio system. The Techno trim adds features such as a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging, making it a fairly attractive offering.
For those seeking the best-equipped model, the top-of-the-line Iconic trim features a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, integrated Google services with voice commands and native navigation for the 10.1-inch infotainment system, as well as ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats.
Renault as well emphasizes practicality, with the Duster offering 518 liters of cargo space, expandable to 700 liters when loaded to the roof.
The new model is based on Renault’s CMF-B platform, a modular architecture already used globally. The Duster for India receives three engine options, all with front-wheel drive.
Notably absent is any form of all-wheel drive. Unlike its European counterpart, the Duster for the Indian market is limited to front-wheel drive, which may reduce its appeal among off-road enthusiasts.
