New Trailers Debut at New York Comic Con, Including Chris Pratt’s ‘Mercy’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoff

New York Comic Con kicked off yesterday at the Javits Center, unveiling a slate of new trailers for upcoming film and television projects, including a first look at Chris Pratt’s sci-fi thriller Mercy and the Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

The Game of Thrones spinoff, set 100 years before the events of the original series, appears to be a departure in tone, leaning into comedy. Starring Peter Claffey as Sir Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as his squire, Egg, the series will premiere on HBO January 18, 2026. “Rob me and I’ll hunt you down with dogs,” Sir Duncan declares in the teaser, to which Egg replies, “You don’t have dogs!” This marks a significant shift for the franchise, known for its darker, more dramatic storylines.

Chris Pratt stars in Mercy as Detective Chris Raven, who finds himself accused of murdering his wife and must prove his innocence within 90 minutes with the help of an artificial intelligence he created. “This was never about my wife,” Pratt’s character tells the AI, played by Rebecca Ferguson. “This was about me and you.” The film, slated for release January 23, 2026, taps into growing public concerns about the potential risks of artificial intelligence. Marvel also debuted a meta-trailer for its upcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man, featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen as an actor auditioning for the titular role.

Additional trailers released today included a new look at the second season of Prime Video’s Cross, based on the Alex Cross novels by James Patterson, and a collaboration between Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. AMC+ also unveiled an extended first look at The Vampire Lestat, revealing that Daniel Molloy will direct and introducing Sheila Atim as Akasha. Convention organizers stated that more previews and announcements are expected throughout the weekend.
