Nikola Priede: NCAA Tournament Loss for Vermont

Vermont’s NCAA Tournament run came to an end Saturday, as the Catamounts fell to Louisville 75-52 in the first round. The loss concludes a historic season for Vermont, which reached the tournament after winning the America East Championship.

Nikola Priede played 39 minutes and shot 8-for-11 from the field, finishing with two rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks, and two fouls.

Kira Hanson led Vermont with 22 points, while Makayla Randolph paced Louisville with 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Also in action Saturday, Madlēna Ģērķe’s team competed in the first round. Marta Leimane and the Colorado State Rams were eliminated after a narrow 65-62 defeat to Michigan State.

In the men’s tournament, Noah Williamson and the Alabama Crimson Tide advanced with a dominant 90-70 victory over Hofstra. Alabama will face Texas Tech in the second round.
