Nissan Expands Budget Family Segment with Launch of Gravite MPV
Nissan is strategically positioning itself to capture the entry-level family vehicle market with the introduction of the Gravite, a seven-seater MPV designed to balance affordability, fuel efficiency, and modern utility. As of April 13, 2026, the vehicle is emerging as a budget MPV market contender, offering a futuristic design aimed at cost-conscious consumers.
In the Indonesian market, the Gravite has launched with a starting price of approximately Rp105 million. This aggressive pricing strategy positions the model as a serious challenger in the LCGC (Low Cost Green Car) class and a direct attempt to challenge the Toyota Avanza.
The vehicle’s specifications emphasize efficiency, and accessibility. It is powered by a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. To cater to different driving preferences, Nissan is offering the Gravite with both manual and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearboxes. Market data from India further illustrates the pricing tiers, where the model ranges from Rs. 5.65 lakh for the base Visia trim to Rs. 8.94 lakh for the top-end Tekna LE variant.
Despite its budget positioning, the Gravite includes several safety and convenience features typically reserved for higher segments. The MPV is equipped with six airbags and cruise control, alongside an eight-inch floating infotainment display and a dual-tone dashboard. The interior layout is designed for maximum flexibility, featuring independent rear air conditioning and a seating configuration where the second and third rows can slide, recline, or fold to optimize cargo space.
Industry analysts suggest that this launch reflects Nissan’s broader strategy to penetrate emerging markets by providing a best cheap family car of 2026. By combining a low entry price with essential safety and space-saving features, Nissan aims to disrupt the current dominance of budget MPVs in the region.
