Nissan is revitalizing its Micra lineup with a fully electric model, marking a significant shift for the compact car that has sold 6 million units worldwide over four decades. The modern Micra, launched internationally in Rotterdam and recently tested on the streets of Rome, represents a departure from previous iterations, built on the Ampere-Small platform – the same platform used by Renault – and signaling a closer collaboration within the Yokohama-Paris alliance.
The Micra, which at times overshadowed even the Nissan brand itself in certain markets, had remained largely unchanged between 2016 and 2023. This latest generation aims to address that, offering a modern design and enhanced technology.
The all-electric Micra boasts a range of up to 416 kilometers (approximately 258 miles) and can gain up to 175 kilometers (109 miles) of range with a 15-minute fast charge. Nissan also offers an 8-year warranty on the battery. This move reflects the growing demand for electric vehicles and positions the Micra to compete in the increasingly crowded EV market.

Nissan Micra: Exterior
The new Micra shares dimensions and architecture with the Renault 5, but distinguishes itself with a more contemporary styling approach, featuring soft surfaces and rounded forms. While the Renault 5 leans into retro aesthetics, Nissan has opted for a more modern look. The design incorporates a nod to the past with headlight styling reminiscent of the third generation Micra.
