Nubia is making waves with a recent smartphone boasting uncompromising specs and innovative liquid-metal cooling technology. The device signals a growing trend of manufacturers pushing the boundaries of mobile performance.
Nubia showcased its flagship Nubia Z80 Ultra at the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The phone, which has been available in some markets for several months, is aimed at demanding users who prioritize high performance and cutting-edge technology, and it’s also turning heads with its unique color options.

The device combines a premium design with advanced photographic capabilities and exceptional battery life. The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2688 × 1216 pixels, uninterrupted by any notches or punch-holes. Nubia has integrated a 16MP front-facing camera directly under the display, offering a seamless viewing experience with a 144Hz refresh rate.
While the camera setup may not be top-of-the-line, it offers a versatile experience considering the price point.
The display also boasts SGS certification guaranteeing low blue light emission. The 227-gram construction features a metal frame and boasts high water and dust resistance according to IP68 and IP69 standards. The phone also includes a customizable sliding button and a two-stage hardware camera shutter.
The MyOS interface is built on Android 16 and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with exceptionally fast LPDDR5X RAM with a capacity of 12 or 16 GB. UFS 4.1 storage is available in 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB options. Cooling is handled by an innovative system combining composite liquid metal with a vapor chamber.
Traditional color variants (white, black) emphasize the camera module in their design.
A key feature of the Z80 Ultra is its above-average 7200 mAh battery. It supports fast wired and wireless charging, both at 80W. The rear camera module houses a triple-sensor setup: a 50MP main lens, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 64MP telephoto lens.
The camera blends into the overall design of the blue model.
The Nubia Z80 Ultra is currently available in Europe in black and white for under $20,000 CZK (approximately $860 USD), a reasonably competitive price. The blue variant, inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s famous painting *The Starry Night*, is expected to arrive in Europe soon and will be approximately 700 CZK (approximately $30 USD) more expensive.
