Lima, Peru – The former Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal is slated for a major transformation into a business center and private flight terminal, with an estimated $10 million investment from Lima Airport Partners (LAP). The redevelopment aims to repurpose the long-standing facility following the opening of the new international airport in Callao earlier this year.
LAP announced plans to begin negotiations and unveil details of the project in early March, according to reports. The move comes after evaluating various options for the existing infrastructure to ensure its efficient use, as stated by Paola Loayza, LAP’s manager of Real Estate and Cargo Businesses.
The project will include commercial and logistical alternatives in addition to the business center and private aviation hub. This development responds to current demand within the airport and logistics sectors. The announcement follows more than eight months after the new Jorge Chávez International Airport terminal began operations.
The repurposing of the former terminal highlights the ongoing expansion of airport-related infrastructure in Peru. On March 3, 2026, LAP also announced the awarding of warehouse operations at the new airport to COSCO SHIPPING and Anjun Logistics, a key step in establishing an integrated “sea-land-air” logistics corridor connecting the Port of Chancay with the Jorge Chávez International Airport.
The Jorge Chávez International Airport also reported a 4.1% increase in passenger traffic in 2025, reaching 25.5 million passengers, driven by international travel and domestic demand. The airport anticipates further growth and is reinforcing its air capacity.
The former terminal’s transformation underscores the growing need for both commercial and private aviation services in the region.
