While the official launch is still at least seven months away, details surrounding the OnePlus 16 are beginning to surface, pointing towards a significant upgrade for the smartphone.
Recent reports from Weibo suggest OnePlus is preparing a flagship device with specifications designed to directly compete with top-tier smartphone manufacturers. The OnePlus 15 faced some criticism for compromises made in its design, falling short of the high standards set by its predecessor, the OnePlus 13. Now, it appears the company is aiming to deliver a device with best-in-class specifications once again.
OnePlus 16 to Feature 200MP Camera
The latest leaks from China reveal nearly complete camera specifications. The main camera is expected to feature a 200MP Samsung HP5 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. This will be paired with a 50MP periscope telephoto camera utilizing a Samsung JN5 sensor with OIS and an f/2.7 aperture. A 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture will complete the setup as an ultrawide lens. This configuration promises a substantial improvement in image quality compared to the OnePlus 15.
Previous reports indicated the OnePlus 16 will incorporate a flat OLED BOE X5 display with a 1.5K resolution. The screen will also boast a remarkably smooth 240Hz refresh rate. The phone’s design is also anticipated to be a step forward, with incredibly slim bezels measuring just 0.8mm in thickness – a noticeable improvement over the 1.15mm bezels found in the previous generation.
Powering the device will be the upcoming flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor, supported by the latest LPDDR6 RAM and swift UFS 4.1 storage. This combination is designed to deliver top-tier performance in all conditions.
Adding to the impressive specifications, the OnePlus 16 is expected to be powered by a large 9000 mAh battery. The battery will support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging for rapid power-ups. Users can also anticipate new dual coaxial speakers and enhanced haptics driven by a 0916T vibration motor.
Such powerful hardware will inevitably impact the device’s price point. According to recent information, the OnePlus 16 will be noticeably more expensive than its predecessors, potentially reaching price points comparable to the Oppo Identify X10 Pro. This could translate to a starting price exceeding 5,000 zł.
