Osaka Ohsho’s New Gyoza Special Zone in Jimbocho: From Casual Sips to Serious Drinking

Osaka Ohsho is shaking up the Tokyo dining scene with a bold new concept. On December 17, 2025, the renowned gyoza specialist launched “Tokyo Osaka Ohsho City Gyoza Special Zone” in the Jimbocho district, marking the brand’s first foray into a standing-bar style izakaya.

The new venue occupies the former site of the Osaka Ohsho Jimbocho store. Although that previous location was already known for its unique limited menus, the new “Special Zone” is a powered-up evolution designed to meet the high demand for “choi-nomi” (light drinking) among the local office crowd and international tourists. However, visitors are finding that “light drinking” is an understatement—the establishment is fully geared for a serious drinking experience.

The beverage selection is staggering, boasting over 120 varieties of alcohol. The menu spans the essentials—beer, highballs, sake, and shochu—and extends all the way to champagne, making it a destination for those looking to do more than just a quick drink.

To complement the massive drink list, the kitchen is serving up “craft gyoza” handmade from the skin up. The menu features exclusive items not found in standard Osaka Ohsho outlets, including the “Tokyo Winged Explosive Juice Gyoza” and the “Tokyo Explosive Juice Boiled Gyoza.” For those seeking variety, the boiled gyoza come with various fillings such as shrimp, shiso, and coriander. Each order of gyoza can be paired with one of 14 different dipping sauces—ranging from the classic “Ganso Tare” with iron chili oil to more adventurous options like cheese sauce, dashi jelly, “crunchy wasabi,” and “ginger sesame.” According to the company, this creates a total of 128 possible gyoza and sauce combinations.

The culinary experience doesn’t stop at dumplings. The “Special Zone” also leans into hearty Kansai-style comfort food, offering items like “Okonomiyaki sticks” and “fried takoyaki” to keep the drinks flowing. Each set of four specialty gyoza is priced at 539 yen (including tax).

By blending traditional gyoza mastery with a high-energy izakaya atmosphere, Osaka Ohsho is positioning itself at the intersection of quick-service dining and nightlife culture, catering to both the fast-paced corporate world of Jimbocho and the growing trend of culinary tourism in Tokyo.
