‘Sinners’ Dominates Oscar Nominations with Record-Breaking 16 Nods

Notably, ‘Wicked: For Excellent’ received no nominations this year.
Michael B. Jordan, who plays twin brothers Stack and Smoke in ‘Sinners,’ earned a nomination, as did director Ryan Coogler and actress Wunmi Mosaku. The film, set in the Jim Crow South, follows the brothers as they face supernatural forces threatening their modern business venture.
Warner Bros., the studio behind both ‘Sinners’ and ‘One Battle After Another,’ leads all studios with a total of 30 nominations. Netflix and Neon tied for second place with 18 nominations each, according to Yahoo Entertainment.
