Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has emphatically denied reports of unhappiness at the Turkish club.
The Nigerian superstar stated, “I have no problem with anyone! I am happy at Galatasaray. I celebrate goals most of the time. Notice times when I don’t celebrate, but there was a reason for that in the Juventus match. I have been getting along very well with everyone at Galatasaray since the day I arrived. I love our club, our coach, our fans, and our president.”
Osimhen recently scored a crucial goal against Juventus in the second leg of the Champions League playoff round, helping Galatasaray advance despite a narrow 3-2 loss on the night. The goal ended Juventus’ dreams of qualification to the last 16 of the UCL, according to CBS Sports.
The forward’s decision not to celebrate the goal sparked speculation, but Osimhen clarified his reasons, citing respect for Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti, who previously managed him at Napoli, and dissatisfaction with Galatasaray’s overall performance in the match. JuveFC.com reports that Osimhen said, “Why didn’t I celebrate? I didn’t need to.” He added, “First of all, I respect Spalletti, whom I admire and who played an important role in my career. Secondly, we played poorly against our 10-man opponent. I’m not someone who hides his emotions.”
The result secured Galatasaray’s place in the Champions League Round of 16 for the first time in 12 years, as detailed in Soccernet.ng. Osimhen’s statement aims to quell any doubts about his commitment to the club and his relationship with his teammates and the coaching staff.
