Norwegian police reported an explosion occurred near the U.S. Embassy in Oslo early Sunday morning, local time.
The cause of the blast and those involved remain unknown, according to a statement released by the Oslo police department. The incident prompted a security response as authorities investigate the circumstances.
“The police are in dialogue with the embassy and there are no reports of injuries,” the statement reads.
Witnesses told Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang that smoke was visible in the area surrounding the embassy complex following the explosion.
The embassy has not yet responded to a request for comment.
