Panathinaikos Athens head coach Ergin Ataman has decided not to register Cedi Osman and Kenneth Faried for upcoming Greek league games.
The Turkish and American players are outside the six-player limit for foreign players, and Kostas Sloukas will also be unavailable.
All three players participated in last Friday’s EuroLeague loss to Olympiacos Piraeus, but Kostas Sloukas is now reported to be experiencing issues with his left knee.
“It will become clear in the next few days whether he will be able to play in the game against Kaunas Žalgiris,” reports gazzetta.gr.
For Sunday’s game against Iraklis, Ataman registered six foreign players: TJ Shorts, Richaun Holmes, Nigel Hayes-Davies, Jerian Grant, Kendrick Nunn, and Juancho Hernangómez.
Two additional Panathinaikos foreign players are not among the eight registered foreign players for the Greek league: Marius Grigonis and Mathias Lessort.
The latter, a French center, has recently been recovering from an injury, while Grigonis has recently lost the coach’s confidence.
Following a back injury last season, the 31-year-old from Kaunas has yet to demonstrate his previous form – averaging 7.8 points in four Greek league games, and 0.5 points in 12 EuroLeague games while playing five minutes per game.
Grigonis is also currently not registered for EuroLeague games, although there is no limit on foreign players when registering twelve players for a game.

The season has been challenging for Panathinaikos.
The Greek powerhouse, which won the EuroLeague championship in 2024 with Grigonis on the roster, currently holds second place in the domestic championship and shares the 9-10 positions in the EuroLeague with Monaco.
Kaunas Žalgiris has one more win and occupies sixth place.
The matchup between Panathinaikos and Žalgiris in Athens will take place on Thursday at 10:00 PM.
