• Paraguay’s Ministry of Public Health and Welfare has launched a digital dashboard and “Vacunómetro” – a vaccination tracker – for the National Measles Vaccination Campaign.
The new technological tool allows real-time monitoring of the campaign’s progress across the country, and initial results from the first week are promising. This initiative underscores the growing use of data-driven strategies in public health to improve vaccination rates and protect communities.
The system integrates data from vaccination services and the National Electronic Vaccination Registry, providing strategic insights into vaccine availability, the number of people vaccinated, coverage rates, age distribution, and progress by district. More detailed data is available at https://pai.mspbs.gov.py/tablero-cvs-2026/.
As of March 18, 2026, the dashboard indicates that 120,226 children have received the measles vaccine during the first week of the campaign, representing 25% of the national target population of 475,279 children. The system also monitors vaccine stock levels at regional warehouses, district offices, and vaccination centers, ensuring sufficient supply for the campaign’s duration.
Technology Supporting Public Health Efforts
Officials say the digital dashboard represents an advancement in health management, enabling data-driven decision-making, rapid identification of areas with low coverage, and strengthened vaccination strategies. This approach could facilitate optimize resource allocation and improve campaign effectiveness.
This tool is part of the Ministry of Public Health’s ongoing modernization of its immunization information system, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and tracking of health initiatives.
The Vacunómetro also allows the public to clearly visualize the campaign’s progress, fostering trust in immunization policies and demonstrating the country’s commitment to protecting children.
The National Measles Follow-up Vaccination Campaign is scheduled for eight weeks nationwide, with the goal of protecting the pediatric population and maintaining Paraguay’s measles-free status.
Parents and caregivers are reminded that vaccination is one of the safest and most effective tools for preventing disease and saving lives, and are encouraged to visit designated vaccination centers to ensure children receive their doses. Vaccination is free and available at health facilities throughout the country.
The Story of Vacunómetro: Tracking Vaccination Progress in Paraguay
In every vaccination center across the country, in every outreach team reaching a community, and in every family choosing to protect their children, a quiet but powerful event occurs: a vaccine is administered, and a life is protected.
Now, thanks to technology, that collective effort can be seen in one place. The Vacunómetro is more than a digital indicator; it’s a pulse of vaccination in Paraguay.
Each number on the dashboard represents a protected child, a family that chose prevention, and a health team working to deliver vaccines to every corner of the country.
But behind each number are individual stories: the mother who brought her child for vaccination, the vaccinator who traveled miles to reach a community, and the nurse who welcomed dozens of families to a health center.
The digital dashboard allows this effort, previously scattered across thousands of records, to be seen as a national snapshot of child protection. The technology also enables rapid identification of areas needing reinforcement, guidance for vaccination teams, and assurance that no community is left behind.
