Paraná’s 2026 Carnival celebrations concluded this week with the announcement of winners across several categories, marking the end of a vibrant four-day festival. The annual event, a major cultural highlight for the city, featured over 350 performers and drew large crowds throughout the long weekend.
In the Category A competition for comparsas – traditional Carnival groups – Emperatriz took the top prize. Colibrí secured second place, followed closely by Samba Oeste Litoral in third. Judges evaluated the groups on their costumes, choreography, and overall stage presence.
Category B and outstanding drum ensembles
Alma Verde was awarded first place in the Category B comparsas competition, recognized for its coordinated and original performance. The competition was described as close, but Alma Verde’s precision and visual spectacle ultimately prevailed.
Puro Swing earned the top honor among the drum ensembles, praised for its rhythm, coordination, and energy throughout the Carnival parades. Both judges and spectators applauded the group’s dynamic performances.
