An event dedicated to raising awareness about Parkinson’s disease will be held on the afternoon of April 11. Residents of Muriaut and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to learn about and discuss the condition within the Simone Veil space.

The event, organized by the City and the France Parkinson association, aims to increase understanding of this progressive neurodegenerative disease, its symptoms, diagnostic procedures, and current treatment options. Parkinson’s disease affects millions worldwide, and increased awareness is crucial for early diagnosis and improved patient care.

Several specialized professionals will participate in the meeting, including neurologists, neurophysiologists, and sports educators. A representative from France Parkinson’s departmental delegation will also be present to share their expertise and answer questions from the public. Discussions will focus on medical support, the importance of adapted physical activity, and locally available resources.

The event is free and open to all who wish to attend. More information about the Institut de Réadaptation d’Achères, where the event will be held, can be found on their website. The location is at 7 Place Simone Veil, 78260 Achères, and can be reached by phone at 01 71 52 13 00.

Simone Veil, a prominent figure in French history, served as the first woman President of the European Parliament and France’s Minister of Health, and was a Holocaust survivor. The space named in her honor reflects her commitment to health and well-being, as detailed in her Wikipedia entry and a profile from France in the United States. Her legacy continues to inspire efforts to improve public health and access to care.
