A man who walked across France to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease will share his story and insights into living with the condition at an upcoming event. Michel Berry, a resident of Saint-Palais, completed a 3,925-kilometer journey across the country, aiming to bring greater visibility to the challenges faced by those with Parkinson’s and to highlight the importance of support and community.
Book Signing and Nutritional Guidance
Berry will discuss his experience during the event, including the emotional journey he shared with his partner, Valérie, whom he met during his travels in eastern France. Following his presentation, he will sign copies of his book, “Tour de France d’un Parkinsonien.” A reception will be held during the book signing.
The event will also feature Valérie Bujanda, a naturopath who contributed to the creation of the booklet “Nutrition and Parkinson’s Disease,” published by the national organization. Bujanda, who herself lives with Parkinson’s, previously served as a delegate for France Parkinson in the Jura region.
Bujanda’s presentation will focus on the critical role of nutrition in managing Parkinson’s disease. Experts emphasize that alongside medication, physical activity, and rehabilitation, dietary choices can significantly impact quality of life for individuals with the condition. The event will provide an opportunity to learn more about this connection and explore personalized nutritional approaches.
Admission is free. Parking is available near the community hall, allée des Près. The venue is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Contact [email protected] or 06 12 13 68 80 for more information.
