Pattani FC Falls to Buriram United in Thai League Cup Quarterfinal
Pattani FC Vice President Dr. Sukree Hayeesamae spoke after his team’s 0-3 defeat to Buriram United in the quarterfinals of the 2025/26 Thai League Cup on March 18th at Rainbow Stadium.
“We faced a top team from Asia in Buriram United,” Dr. Sukree said. “Today, the stadium was full of fans, and we must thank them for their support throughout the 90 minutes. This was the highest quality game we’ve played since our founding, because this is Buriram. Just one of their players alone… we would need almost two years of Pattani FC’s team budget to match that quality.”
Despite the scoreline, Dr. Sukree felt his team competed well. “On the pitch, we performed quite well, creating around 7-8 chances, even if we couldn’t convert them into goals. Our chance creation was very quality. We thank Buriram for playing at 100 percent, and we fought with dignity. We made history by reaching the quarterfinals of the League Cup for the first time. In the future, we must improve.”
Looking ahead, Pattani FC will face Chainat Hornbill on March 22nd in a crucial match. “The next match against Chainat Hornbill on the 22nd is another very crucial match for us, as it will determine whether we can automatically be promoted to T1,” Dr. Sukree explained. “We are currently in a relatively safe playoff position. If we avoid any setbacks, I invite all Pattani FC fans to come and cheer us on, filling Rainbow Stadium once again. The fans are our 12th player, truly capable of changing the game and the result. Pattani FC’s next match will be against Chainat Hornbill in the BYD Seal League Two 2025/26 Matchday 31 on Sunday, March 22nd at 6:30 PM at Rainbow Stadium, broadcast live on AIS Play Sports 8.
