As spring approaches, travel organizers are reporting a surge in bookings, marking it as one of the most popular times of the year to travel.

“Spring is a unique period where two seasons intersect – we are still operating flights to winter destinations like Egypt or Tenerife, but simultaneously, summer flights to Greece, Turkey, Spain and the Portuguese island of Madeira are beginning,” says Sigita Vaitelė, product manager at the travel organizer TEZ Tour. “This gives travelers the widest selection of options throughout the year.”

Beyond the early warmth and smaller crowds, spring offers a practical advantage for travelers: prices for both hotels and resorts remain significantly more favorable than during the peak summer season.

“Before the main holiday season begins, travelers can enjoy both a more relaxed experience and lower service costs. As summer progresses, prices increase not only for accommodation but also for dining, entertainment, and even souvenirs, making spring travel often more comfortable and economical,” advises Vaitelė.

According to her, even as Lithuania still sees winter through the window, travelers’ suitcases are already filled with spring attire. Vaitelė details the weather conditions travelers can expect in various holiday destinations during the spring months.

Spring in Egypt – Swimming in the Sea and a Summery Tan

Spring in Egypt more closely resembles a Lithuanian summer than a transitional season. The warmth allows for swimming in the sea, and returning to snowy Lithuania with a beautiful summery tan is a distinct possibility.

“Egypt is an excellent choice for those seeking summery warmth in the spring months. Temperatures of 25–30 degrees Celsius and the Red Sea resorts invite visitors during spring, before the summer heat intensifies,” shares Vaitelė.

She continues that during the spring months, the Nile River becomes a central feature of the Egyptian landscape – its green banks bloom with vibrant wildflowers, and the Nile Delta creates a colorful contrast to the surrounding desert. Even the desert undergoes a transformation, with golden sands speckled with wildflowers and shrubs, adding unexpected colors.

Vitamin D Boost in Tenerife

In March and April, the island experiences temperatures of 23–25 degrees Celsius, gentler winds than in winter, and rapidly lengthening days, giving travelers a summery feel from the moment they arrive. Lithuanians are packing their bags for Tenerife, seeking to escape the Lithuanian chill and replenish their vitamin D reserves during the spring months.

“In spring, popular island locations – Teide National Park, coastal towns, or the scenic cliffs of Los Gigantes – can be visited with much less crowding. You can also stroll through the mountains of Anaga and relax on volcanic beaches without the crowds, even enjoying the first swims of the year,” says the travel expert.

Blooming Season in Madeira

Madeira is known as the “Island of Eternal Spring,” but it is during March and April that its landscape takes on a particularly special appearance. Nature here awakens not gradually, but intensely: shrubs bloom, and mountain trails become some of the most beautiful throughout the year.

Spring in Madeira is one of the best times for sightseeing tours and hikes. Popular routes include the hike from Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo, allowing you to experience the grandeur of the Madeira Mountains up close, and the Ribeiro Frio–Portela levada trail, leading through a laurel forest millions of years old.

You can also seize a sightseeing tour of the western part of the island in Porto Moniz, a cozy walking tour of Funchal, or visit Santana in the eastern part of the island to learn about local culture and traditions.

“Madeira is ideal for those seeking warmth and inspiration. The mild climate in spring allows you to enjoy hiking, and the ocean air provides the freshness often missed after a long Lithuanian winter,” says Vaitelė.

Turkey in Spring: A Calm Start Before the Summer Buzz

In Turkey, spring acts as a bridge to summer – warm and pleasant weather prevails, resorts begin the season, but the main tourist bustle is yet to come.

“It is during this period that relaxation here takes on a different quality: resorts are quieter, there are fewer people in hotels, so you don’t have to fight for sun loungers, and the service staff can devote more attention to each guest. This also means quieter pools, emptier beaches, and a much cozier atmosphere than when summer sets in,” says the travel organizer’s representative.

The first seasonal plane to Antalya will depart on March 28, and the first to Bodrum on May 1. Vaitelė is confident that Turkey will maintain its title as the queen of holidays this year as well.

Greece Without Large Crowds

Holidays in Greece in spring are suitable for travelers looking for pleasant warmth. It is an ideal time to explore the country’s islands without congestion, and the weather allows you to combine sightseeing with relaxation.

“Flights to Crete begin in April – at this time, nature is already awakened, everything is green, and the temperature is suitable for both relaxation and excursions around the island. At the end of April, the first seasonal flights to Rhodes begin, and in May – to the Peloponnese peninsula and the island of Corfu, when these regions come to life in summer rhythm, but without the crowds of tourists that flood in July,” presents Vaitelė.

Barcelona’s Spring – First Warm Days by the Sea

In Barcelona, spring weather allows you to wander through parks, visit attractions, and spend time on sandy beaches, as the weather is already suitable for the first swims in the sea.

“In the spring months, Lithuanians dream of indulging in good weather without the peak summer tourist season. In Barcelona, you can now enjoy a more relaxed experience, getting to know the city through the eyes of locals,” says Vaitelė.

Southern Italy – Summer Begins at the End of May

In southern Italy, summer begins as early as the end of May: holidays in Calabria and Sardinia become an excellent choice for those seeking warmth, coziness, and the Italian coastline without the crowds.

“In Calabria and Sardinia, you can already enjoy the first real summer days from May – warm sea water, increasingly brighter sun, and quiet beaches. This is a time when the Italian coasts are filled with warmth, but still retain the lightness of spring: towns live at a slower pace, the coastline allows you to start the swimming season, and nature is still green,” says Vaitelė.
