Support and Resources Available for Those Affected by Cancer in Hoorn
A center in Hoorn, Netherlands, is providing comprehensive support for individuals and families navigating the challenges of cancer. PISA (Praten, Informatie, Steun en Aandacht – Talking, Information, Support and Attention) offers a welcoming environment for those diagnosed with cancer, their loved ones, and those who have experienced loss due to the disease. Access to resources like these is crucial for improving the quality of life for cancer patients and their families.
Located in Hoorn, PISA serves the West-Friesland region, and also has a presence in Enkhuizen and the Dijklander hospital area. The organization provides a range of services, including individual counseling, support groups, and various activities designed to foster a sense of community and well-being. These services aim to help individuals cope with the emotional, practical, and social impacts of cancer.
PISA’s offerings extend beyond emotional support. They also host informational meetings and events to empower individuals with knowledge and resources. Currently, PISA is offering personal training sessions, and in January 2026, an ergotherapist from Doorzorg began providing group sessions at the center.
The organization relies on community support to continue its work. Individuals can contribute by donating, sponsoring events, or volunteering their time and energy. Recently, PISA received a €5,000 donation from the Rotary Clubs of Hoorn following the “Hoorn Walks Against Cancer” event, which raised a total of €16,500 for cancer-related causes. The funds will support PISA’s services and the oncology center at the Dijklander Hospital. More information about the donation can be found here.
PISA is open on Mondays from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and Wednesdays from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. No appointment is necessary during opening hours. Those interested in participating in activities can register by phone or email. Learn more about PISA and its services.
The center is currently relocating from Draafsingel 59 to Grote Oost 41 in Hoorn, ensuring continued access to vital support for the community. Donations to support PISA can be made through KWF.
