PlayStation announced today, March 24, 2026, the closure of Dark Outlaw Games, a development team established just one year prior. The studio was led by Jason Blundell, previously known for his work on the zombie mode within the Call of Duty franchise.
The team was in the early stages of development on its first project when the decision to close was made. This follows a similar move by Sony, who also shuttered Deviation Games, another studio led by Blundell. According to media reports, Sony will announce staff reductions within its U.S. And U.K. Divisions as a result of the closure.
The consolidation of game development studios reflects the evolving landscape of the gaming industry, where companies are increasingly focused on streamlining operations and prioritizing key projects. This restructuring signals a strategic shift within PlayStation as it navigates a competitive market.
