Pongala Film to Release on Sunday, Inspired by Real Coastal Story & Festive Spirit

The Malayalam film Pongala is slated for a rare Sunday release on November 30th, a move the production team says reflects the film’s celebratory themes and the true story at its core. The film,which reportedly features 11 fight sequences,underwent a challenging shoot along the Kerala coast,and producers are optimistic about its reception in theaters. A press conference held earlier today included members of the full cast and crew, and also a performance of a song from the film’s soundtrack.

The team behind the Malayalam film Pongala is confident a Sunday release will be a success, citing the film’s festive spirit and a real-life story at its heart. Director A.B. Binil stated that releasing the film on Sunday, November 30, felt fitting, as the day itself carries a celebratory energy.

Releases on Sundays are rare in Malayalam cinema history. The film, which features 11 fight sequences, was a challenging shoot, taking place along the coastal regions of Kerala and inspired by a true story. “We are expecting a good response in theaters,” said Sreenath Bhasi, the film’s lead actor.

Also in attendance at the press conference were actors Baburaj, Alencier, Yami Sona, the film’s leading lady, Surya Krish, Indrajith Jagjith, Sreerang, David Jacob, and Ashwamedh, along with producers Anil Pillai and Deepu Bose. Following the conference, Bhasi and Alencier performed to a song from the film. Grace Film Company will distribute Pongala in theaters, with marketing handled by Bringforth Advertising.
