Full-backs from Portugal’s top three football clubs – Sporting, Benfica and FC Porto – are attracting increasing international attention for their market value. A recent study by the CIES Football Observatory identified players from these clubs as being among the most valuable full-backs playing outside of Europe’s five major leagues.
The ranking highlighted Iván Fresneda, currently playing for Sporting, as the second most valuable player in the list, estimated at €30.34 million, just behind Anan Khalaili of Union St. Gilloise (€33.78 million). Fresneda is the highest-valued player from Portugal’s Liga in the ranking. Also representing Sporting, Maxi Araújo appeared in seventh place, valued at €24.13 million.
Benfica boasts two players in the top five: Samuel Dahl occupies the fourth position with a valuation of €30.11 million, while Amar Dedic follows closely behind in fifth, assessed at €27.98 million. FC Porto is represented by Martim Fernandes, who ranks eighth on the table with an estimated value of €23.41 million.
