A team of 12 Portuguese researchers will depart this Saturday for the Paranal Observatory in the Atacama Desert, Chile, to install a new solar telescope developed in Portugal. The instrument will enable observations of the Sun, with the goal of better understanding the physics of stars and contributing to the study of exoplanets – planets outside our solar system. The telescope will operate remotely from Porto and will allow for high-resolution observations.
