AMMAN — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a ceremonial escort from Jordanian Air Force F-16 fighter jets upon entering the country’s airspace Tuesday evening, February 24, 2026. The display of aerial support underscores the strong diplomatic ties between Jordan and Indonesia.
The arrival was further marked by a personal welcome from Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, Crown Prince of Jordan. President Prabowo landed at Marka Military Airport in Amman at 7:53 p.m. Local time.
The visit, a working trip intended to strengthen bilateral relations, also saw President Prabowo greeted by a delegation of high-ranking officials from both nations. Representing Indonesia were Ambassador Ade Padmo Sarwono and Defense Attaché Colonel Laut (P) Dafris D. Syahruddin.
A guard of honor was also present, adding to the formality of the occasion as President Prabowo disembarked. He then proceeded directly to his hotel in Amman.
President Prabowo is scheduled to meet with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. This reciprocal gesture follows a similar welcome extended to King Abdullah II during his visit to Indonesia in November 2025.
During that visit, the Indonesian Air Force provided an escort of seven F-16 and three T50 fighter jets for the Jordanian King, a gesture President Prabowo personally arranged to honor his long-time friend. Ten Indonesian Air Force jets – seven F-16s and three T50s – also saw the King off as his plane departed on February 15, 2025, forming a formation as they passed overhead.
The warm reception highlights the close relationship between the two leaders and the commitment to fostering stronger ties between Indonesia and Jordan.
