ACEH, KOMPAS.com – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto observed the Idul Fitri holiday with worshippers at the Darussalam Mosque in Kampung Simpang, Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
According to a YouTube broadcast from the Presidential Secretariat, the President arrived at the prayer area around 7:20 a.m. Local time.

The President wore a long-sleeved white shirt and a black peci cap.
He was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and several ministers including Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Foreign Minister Sugiono.

The President’s arrival was met with enthusiasm by worshippers who also gathered for the Idul Fitri prayers. Some attendees were seen taking photos as Prabowo entered the mosque.
Upon arriving at the mosque, Prabowo immediately took a seat in the front row, flanked by Cabinet Secretary Teddy and Interior Minister Tito Karnavian.
Prayers began as soon as the President arrived. The atmosphere was solemn as Prabowo and the community of Aceh Tamiang carried out their prayers at the Darussalam Mosque.
The Indonesian government had previously announced that 1 Shawwal 1447 Hijriah, or Idul Fitri 2026, would fall on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar stated that the monitoring of the new moon was the primary basis for determining Lebaran 2026.
The determination of the start of Shawwal was based on astronomical calculations (hisab) and the observation of the new moon (rukyatul hilal) from hundreds of locations throughout Indonesia.
