A witness confirmed to Reuters that the former prince left the police station around 7:00 PM local time on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after searches were completed “in Berkshire and Norfolk.”

No charges have been immediately announced.

The brother of King Charles III was detained on suspicion of “misconduct in public office,” a development widely seen as a significant blow to the British monarchy.

He allegedly passed “confidential information” from the United Kingdom and other allied countries to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to indications contained in the Epstein files.

Newly released emails suggest that Mountbatten-Windsor forwarded reports on Vietnam, Singapore, and other locations he visited on official trips to Epstein in 2010.

The documents indicate that Prince Andrew may have transmitted potentially confidential commercial reports at a time when he was serving as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade.

Mountbatten-Windsor, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II, has consistently denied any wrongdoing regarding Epstein and expressed regret over their friendship, but has not responded to requests for comment since the latest documents surfaced.

King Charles III responded to Andrew’s detention by stating, “the law will take its course.”

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor turned 66 years old on Thursday and spent approximately twelve hours at the police station.
