Charleroi’s Jules Gaudin and Anderlecht’s Moussa Diarra have both received suspensions following recent disciplinary action, but Diarra may be available for a crucial upcoming match. Gaudin initially faced a four-game ban and a €4,500 fine, but an appeal reduced the suspension to three games and a €4,000 fine. Charleroi will be without Gaudin for matches against Gent on Saturday, Westerlo on February 22nd, and Club Brugge on March 1st.
The disciplinary council also reviewed the initial three-match suspension handed down to Moussa Diarra after his ejection during the first leg of the Belgian Cup semi-final against Antwerp on February 6th. That sanction has been reduced to a two-game suspension with one game suspended, along with a €2,500 fine.
Diarra was sent off in the 79th minute of the 0-1 defeat to Antwerp for a dangerous challenge on Marwan Al-Sahafi, making contact with his studs on the back of the Antwerp attacker’s ankle.
Diarra will miss Anderlecht’s league match against La Louvière on Sunday and their February 22nd contest at Zulte Waregem. Crucially, the successful appeal allowed Diarra to participate in the second leg of the Belgian Cup semi-final, which Anderlecht won 0-4 on Thursday, securing their place in the final. The result marked a significant turnaround for Anderlecht in the cup competition.
