A person died Wednesday after being physically attacked in Prostejov, Czech Republic, police confirmed. Authorities have detained one suspect in connection with the incident.
“We are investigating a physical assault in Prostejov, in which one person suffered injuries that proved fatal despite the best efforts of rescuers on the scene. We have detained one person,” said police spokesperson Lenka Skoupilova.
“We will not be providing any further information on the case at this time. We will share additional details as circumstances allow,” Skoupilova added.
According to reports, the tragedy occurred near the Zlatá Brána shopping center in the city center. All components of the Integrated Rescue System of the Olomouc Region responded to the scene.
This incident marks the third homicide investigated by police in the Olomouc Region this year. In mid-February, a 38-year-old man in Šumperk stabbed a taxi driver in the neck and the woman later died in the hospital. Last year, the region saw a record 15 homicides and attempted homicides.
