Lisbon police have arrested a 31-year-traditional man wanted in France for a homicide, authorities confirmed on Wednesday, March 5, 2026. The arrest underscores international cooperation in pursuing fugitives from justice.
The suspect was apprehended on February 28 in the Lumiar district of Lisbon during a routine traffic stop, according to a statement from the Public Security Police (PSP). Officers discovered the man lacked proper documentation authorizing his stay in Portugal.
A subsequent check revealed an international arrest warrant had been issued for him in connection with a homicide investigation in France. Police then took him into custody and presented him for an initial court hearing.
The man is now awaiting extradition to France to face charges related to the alleged crime, officials said. The PSP’s 3rd Division carried out the interception, as reported on social media.
Further details about the homicide case in France have not been released at this time.
