Raheem Sterling is facing mounting criticism for his performances with Feyenoord, with Dutch analysts calling for the club to quickly move on from the veteran winger.

Harsh Criticism for Raheem Sterling

Sterling was back in the starting lineup against Ajax, but was substituted off by manager Robin van Persie after just 55 minutes. Theo Janssen didn’t hold back when discussing the performance on Studio Voetbal, stating, “I hate to say it, but it just can’t happen.”

Wim Kieft strongly agreed with his colleague. “There were four players offside today – Sterling was by far the worst of the group, alongside Godts, Berghuis and Hadj Moussa. It’s simply not good enough. We all want it to be better. At first, you make excuses, like he wasn’t fit. But this simply isn’t good enough for the Dutch league.”

Ronald de Boer described the situation as a “disgrace.” “That’s what I consider. It’s also painful for Robin, because he reached out to Sterling, he called him. And This represents what he gets in return… I don’t think he expected this.” The analyst believes the Englishman should be immediately removed from the starting eleven. “If Sauer isn’t good, he’s still better. Sterling is known for his speed, but he simply isn’t getting past anyone anymore. Not even Makkelie.”

Suggestions to Move On

Valentijn Driessen also delivered a scathing assessment in a video item for De Telegraaf. “He played 55 minutes, but it was a complete disaster. He didn’t do anything offensively and wasn’t fulfilling his defensive duties either. It seemed like he was enjoying the sun more than focusing on the game. If you can’t make an impact in a match like this – or do anything good at all – you’re better off playing for a veterans team.”

Should Feyenoord quickly part ways with Sterling?
