The first soloists for Raimonds Pauls’ song festival concert, “To My Homeland,” have been announced!
On July 11, 2026, more than 13,000 singers will gather at the Great Meadow Stage “Sidraba Birzs” for the concert “To My Homeland,” created as a tribute to Maestro Raimonds Pauls and his work.
Joining the song festival choir, beloved melodies by Maestro Pauls will be performed by Intars Busulis, Ance Krauze, Zigfrīds Muktupāvels, Edgars Ošleja, sisters Asnate and Aurēlija Rancāne, and other soloists and artists.
These artists represent different generations, but each of them has a special connection to the work of Maestro Raimonds Pauls. Intars Busulis is one of Raimonds Pauls’ most frequent stage partners and will be heard performing “Lost Skies” at the concert.
Singer Ance Krauze was the first to perform “The Sea Has Frozen” at the Song Festival and has been entrusted with performing the song again this time. Together with sisters Asnate and Aurēlija Rancāne, Ance Krauze will sing excerpts from the folk song cycle: “Brother Led Sisters Far Away,” “Three Daughters,” and “I Planted a Turkish Bean.”
Beloved soloist Zigfrīds Muktupāvels will perform one of Raimonds Pauls’ most iconic songs – “Silent Song” – at the “To My Homeland” concert. The two artists have participated in many joint concerts, which often feature Zigfrīds’ violin playing. One of their best-known collaborations is “Christmas Album” with 13 jointly recorded songs by the Maestro.
Opera singer Edgars Ošleja will be the soloist for the song “The Ivies Bloom in Sigulda.” The collaboration between Maestro Raimonds Pauls and the opera singer is one of the Maestro’s newest initiatives, which began in 2024 with the aim of breaking genre boundaries, combining Ošleja’s powerful bass voice with melodies from popular music. This partnership quickly resulted in the release of an album and concert program “ECHO.” The concert “To My Homeland” is a tribute to Maestro Raimonds Pauls and his work.
On July 11, 2026, more than 13,000 singers from Latvia and the Latvian diaspora will gather at the Great Meadow Stage “Sidraba Birzs” to sing the most beautiful songs by Raimonds Pauls together with beloved soloists and musicians, with special attention paid to the Maestro’s choral music repertoire, and also newly created works by Latvian composers specifically for this event. After the concert, participants and spectators can look forward to a sing-along night, singing a wide range of the Maestro’s songs together.
