A large fire broke out at a Raufoss Technology factory in Vestre Toten, Norway, early Thursday morning, prompting a response from multiple fire departments. The blaze, which began around 4:23 a.m. Local time, has drawn support from fire crews in Hamar, Lillehammer, Nedre Romerike, and Oslo, as they work to contain the flames and provide specialized equipment.

According to police, three employees were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, while eight others were checked on-site by medical personnel. The affected production hall spans approximately 6,000 square meters, and while the fire is not currently spreading, the extent of the damage remains unknown.

“It is not a sign that we are in control yet,” a police spokesperson told Aftenposten. “It concerns an industrial building of 6000 square meters, and there is high heat and a lot of smoke.”

Authorities are advising residents in the vicinity of the industrial park to keep their doors and windows closed due to the heavy smoke. While some nearby businesses have been evacuated as a precaution, the fire is not believed to pose a threat to other parts of the park.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and police have indicated they have a preliminary understanding of how it started, but are not yet releasing that information. Firefighters are now focused on salvaging what remains of the building. This incident underscores the challenges faced by industrial areas in mitigating fire risks and ensuring rapid emergency response.

The fire was first reported by police at 4:23 a.m. On March 5, 2026, according to NRK. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
