Venezuelan actor and host Raúl González has revealed he is in a relationship, months after publicly confirming he is gay. The news comes as González enjoys a newfound freedom in his personal life.
The Despierta América co-host first came out in an interview with Mandy Fridmann in late 2025. Now, almost five months later, he’s sharing details about a blossoming romance.
González opened up about his love life during a conversation with Luis Sandoval and Erika Reyna on the “Buena vibra” radio program. Although keeping specifics private, he confirmed he is seeing someone. “I’m going to say it publicly for the first time: I’m seeing someone,” he said.
He explained that he’s historically been private about his personal life, needing “a process of peace, security and serenity” before sharing more intimate details.
Raúl González Confirms Relationship
González is clearly enjoying a full and open relationship with a recent partner. “I met someone now, I’m giving myself the opportunity and I’m very happy,” he commented.
The presenter noted that his new love interest is not involved in the entertainment industry, which allows him to openly express his feelings. “Yes, I am very in love,” Raúl confirmed.
Presenter Declares His Sexuality
González previously discussed his sexuality in connection with the release of his autobiography, ‘La verdad muere de pie.’ He shared that his biggest fear was having his truth discovered.
“There comes a time when you say: ‘Enough, enough of pretending to be who you are not, enough of wearing a mask, enough of trying to be perfect when perfection does not exist, enough of carrying the weight of past guilt,'” he expressed, visibly emotional.
For years, Raúl González hid his sexuality due to a childhood filled with fear, judgment, and bullying. “Yes, because it was the biggest fear I grew up with, the one I was judged by, the one I was bullied for,” he said through tears.
Differences with His Father
Family dynamics were also on his mind when his father learned of his preferences, leading him to keep it secret for a long time out of respect.
“In the book I tell that when my dad finds out, my dad makes me promise not to tell anyone until he dies. So obviously, out of the love and respect I had for him, I promised him because I understood his shame,” he related.
