Alejado de la exposición pública, se conoció cómo es la nueva vida de Raúl Taibo
Once one of the most coveted leading men of Argentine television, Raúl Taibo has traded the glitz of the spotlight for a life of profound anonymity and spiritual exploration. Now 72, the actor has largely vanished from the public eye, leaving fans and colleagues to wonder about the whereabouts of the man who defined a generation of romantic telenovelas.
Taibo’s legacy in the industry is cemented by his roles in unforgettable hits such as Una voz en el teléfono, Esos que dicen amarse, Por siempre mujercitas, 90 60 90 modelos, Campeones de la vida, 099 Central, Culpable de este amor, Los Roldán, and Amor en custodia. However, the transition from superstar to recluse was a gradual choice. While he appeared on television for the last time in 2016 in the series Los ricos no piden permiso, he made his final bow on stage in 2019 with the play Perfectos desconocidos on Calle Corrientes, a project he accepted after being tempted by director Guillermo Francella.
Since that final performance, Taibo has cultivated a quiet existence focused on family and inner peace. He is currently raising his 10-year-old daughter, Francesca, born from his relationship with his partner, Mercedes. Reflecting on the challenges and joys of later-in-life fatherhood, Taibo noted the difference between raising Francesca and his first daughter, Antonella, who was born in 1987 and now lives in Novel York working as a chef. Taibo is also a grandfather to Lucas.
“I am a different kind of dad. Francesca shows me my shadow, what do. Before, I would play for hours and hours on the floor, and now it’s harder for me. Still, she is benevolent, a teacher. She understands. It seems like she contains me. She is an evolved soul. She plays with me in a different way, as if she realizes she has an older father. Being a dad at 62 is not the same as at 33, when Antonella was born,” Taibo shared.
Beyond fatherhood, the actor has spent the last two decades immersed in personal growth. He has dedicated his time to shamanism, meditation, and holistic therapies, moving further away from the artificiality of the entertainment world. This shift toward the spiritual has also manifested in a unique professional endeavor: Taibo lent his deep voice to a massive audio Bible production by Osorno Media. The project, which features 500 actors from various countries and is promoted as being blessed by Pope Francis, aims to transcend a single religion.
Despite the curiosity surrounding his disappearance, Taibo remains firm in his decision to step back. When contacted by the press, the actor was clear about his current boundaries, stating simply, “I am retired from the media.”
While he remains distant, a few close ties persist. Carolina Papaleo, his former co-star in Una voz en el teléfono, has remained a close friend, highlighting the lasting impact of the operate that once made Taibo a household name across Argentina. His journey from the peak of celebrity to a life of meditative silence highlights a rare trajectory in an industry where most struggle to let go of the fame.
