Strasbourg Authorities Issue Restrictions for Lens Match
Ahead of Friday’s Ligue 1 clash between Racing and RC Lens at the Stade de la Meinau, the Bas-Rhin prefecture has issued a prefectural order impacting supporters of RC Lens. The match, a key contest in the French top flight, is scheduled to kick off at 8:45 PM local time on February 27, 2026.
Restricted Zones and Times
The order, effective from 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM on Friday, prohibits anyone identifying as or appearing to be a supporter of RC Lens from gathering or traveling on public roads in several key areas of Strasbourg. These include the Strasbourg Central Train Station (SNCF) and its surrounding streets, the Grande-Île (the city’s island center) encompassing Place du Corbeau, Rue des Bouchers, and Place d’Austerlitz, the Plaine des Bouchers area, and the immediate vicinity of the Stade de la Meinau.

Organized Travel Exception
An exception has been made for Lens supporters traveling by officially organized buses under escort from internal security forces. These groups will receive special handling to ensure a safe arrival at the stadium.
Bus Arrival and Parking Details
RC Lens supporters arriving by bus will be met by law enforcement at the Schwindratzheim toll plaza (A4) no later than 6:00 PM on February 27, 2026. Bus drivers are required to ensure adequate rest periods are observed and to depart the Stade de la Meinau immediately following the match. Fans arriving in private vehicles will be directed straight to the stadium.
Prohibited Items
The prefectural order likewise bans the possession, transport, or use of fireworks, pyrotechnics, smoke bombs, projectiles, or any items that could be considered weapons within the restricted zones and around the stadium. The possession or transport of alcoholic beverages is also prohibited.

Enforcement
The director of cabinet for the prefect of the Grand Est region, the director of the Bas-Rhin national police, the commander of the Bas-Rhin departmental gendarmerie group, and the mayor of Strasbourg are all responsible for enforcing the order. The order will be published in the official administrative register of the Bas-Rhin prefecture and will be communicated to the public prosecutor’s office at the Strasbourg judicial court, as well as to the presidents of the clubs involved.
