“Another disaster at the Bernabeu,” wrote Spanish publication Marca following the unexpected result.
“A huge upset,” commented TV 2’s Endre Lübeck.

The lone goal came in a match where Real Madrid was without star forward Kylian Mbappe, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury.
The evening went from disappointing to worse for Real Madrid in stoppage time when promising youngster Franco Mastantuono (18) received a red card.
Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa expressed his frustration with the teenager’s actions.
“Mastantuono’s actions are unacceptable,” he told Marca.
The drama continued as Getafe also saw a player sent off when substitute Adrian Liso received his second yellow card for kicking the ball away.
With Monday’s result in the capital, Barcelona will undoubtedly be celebrating.
They now top the table by four points, having convincingly defeated Villareal over the weekend.
Despite the setback, Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa remains determined.
“Now we have only one goal: to win all 36 points still up for grabs. This is Real Madrid, and no one gives up here. There’s a gap we believe we can close,” he said, according to Marca, and continued:
“There are 36 points left to play for, and the goal is to gain them all. I understand things look bleak right now, and there isn’t much hope when you lose like this, but we must keep winning. No one here is throwing away the league, and no one is giving up. We know there is a lot to improve, but I have nothing to say about the team’s effort. Of course, we can do better, and the responsibility is mine.”
