Contra – Kabarett und Comedy

Two German Comedians to Share the Stage in Vienna on May 10th

Vienna will host a comedic showdown on May 10th, as two prominent German performers, Andreas Rebers and Falk Plücker, bring their distinct styles to the city. Rebers, a veteran political satirist and Falk, a celebrated songwriter, will each be performing on the same night, offering audiences a diverse evening of entertainment.

Andreas Rebers (68) has established a second home in Vienna and is presenting his latest show, “I bleibat jetzt do” (“I’m staying now”), following his previous program “I warat jetzt do.” According to reports, “I bleibat jetzt do” is a significantly refined and largely new show, a departure from the more patchwork nature of its predecessor. “The cabaret genius” (as described by Falter magazine) analyzes global, political, and societal issues with a pointed wit, offering a critical perspective on contemporary trends. He will be performing at the Stadtsaal Wien on May 10th.

Also performing on May 10th is FALK (40), whose real name is Falk Plücker, and who has been one of Germany’s most award-winning songwriters over the past decade. This year, the Wuppertal native and trained historian received the prestigious German Kleinkunstpreis in the Music/Chanson category. The jury praised FALK as “a young bard who cultivates and revitalizes the art and craft of songwriting,” noting his ability to deliver “smart lyrics, sometimes biting and malicious, sometimes loving, tender, and ballad-like, but always with an engaging, roguish charm.” One critic aptly described his work as possessing “bite, subtle wit, and sometimes a delightful malice that simply makes you laugh” (Hessische Allgemeine).

Rebers’ show, “I bleibat jetzt do,” explores the question of whether there are reasons to leave Germany and reasons to stay in Austria. He states that his decision to perform in Austria isn’t driven by political persecution or tax evasion, but simply a fondness for the country and an appreciation for the “Austrian Way.”

FALK’s current show, “Unverschämt” (“Shameless”), is described as boundary-pushing and sarcastic, yet endearing – a playful provocateur. However, he’s also a storyteller with a thoughtful side that can resonate with audiences. A warning is issued to those with delicate sensibilities, but those who enjoy self-deprecating humor are promised a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
